Katie and her vice directors Faith Seward and Sydney Young have been working hard to to provide fun events for the youth and to raise money for youth programs.
At the Region 17 Championship Show, the youth organized an egg-and-spoon race, Simon Says, an ice-cream social, a novelty costume class, a silent auction and sold 50/50 tickets, all with great success! Read more ... (Sept 2011 Youth Report)

AHA Redefines Age Limit for Youth!
Resolution #1-11 was passed at the AHA Convention held in Vancouver: Effective December 31 2012, Youth will be defined as 18 & under. Classes will then be split by age into “18 & under” or “14 to 18 years” for Juniors and “19 to 39 years” for Seniors. The other age splits will remain the same.
The effective date has been deferred to the end of the year as the 2012 show season is underway.

Region 17 congratulates these youth on their achievements!
All youth are eligible to apply for the Region 17 Scholarship (application due June 30th each year) and also any of the Arabian Horse Foundation Scholarships (due April 1st)
Region 17 Scholarship Application Requirements
Region 17 of the Arabian Horse Association will award one scholarship (or more), in the amount of $1500, towards the educational pursuits of a youth member in good standing of a Region 17 Member Association or Club. The applicant must be a youth member of the Arabian Horse Association as defined within the AHA handbook.
Any youth member of Region 17 can apply. Applicants will be measured on the following: equestrian excellence, sportsmanship, scholastic achievement and work habits, and must demonstrate an ongoing commitment and contribution to the Arabian breed. Applicants must be active during the current year of application.
